Awesome, just awesome … Maverick is a kind of sequel rarely seen in our days. It sticks to the true Top Gun spirit of the 80s original and offers a straight story. The characters portrayed are believably Top Gun-like, they are fun to watch and filled with testosterone (lust like in the 80s). This may not be considered “modern” or “up to date”, but it really fits the story and the scenario. Maverick is a worthy sequel to Top Gun. It has action, drama, fun and thrill. The flight scenes are great to watch. The audience could not be closer or more involved (visually speaking). Today we often see actors being put in a blue box and it shows looking like a scene from a video game. Not so in Maverick, here it looks and feels like the actors were actually inside the F-18s and F-14s.
I must confess: as a guy who had seen Top Gun at the movie theater back in the days, I hugely enjoyed all the nostalgia Maverick offers (and I instantly felt 30 years younger again) 🙂 Maverick? Highly recommended..

I remember watching top gun several years back , may be more than 20 years i guess.
That was my first Tom Cruise movie, though he has type caste himself still his movies are fun to watch.
I have not been going* to the Cinemas as yet owing to the usual Covid crap (*Thor and Dr Strange are exceptions though ;)), hence missed this one.
Gonna catch it on the weekend.

Btw Tom Cruise isn’t one of my fav actors either. As a human being I wouldn’t want to join him for a drink. But he definitely is a professional when it comes to acting. Him doing many of his stunts himself is quite impressive. And then there is only one Maverick, and that is Tom Cruise. I couldn’t imagine anyone else in that role. 🙂

As far as Tom Cruise is concerned , he is just doing commercial cinema nothing at all for which he ll be remembered for long..
Take the case of the Godfather series , damn , am havin goosebumps just writing this
Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert De niro, Andy Garcia ( yeah I like him )
There are far too many films out there where just a single performance is still remembered.
Even Brad Pitt has done better Cinema..
But then we watch movies for pure entertainment and Tom’s movies are damn good at that though they all belong a similar genre.
