10 bit is better. Especially in dark scene
Well small sized rips would always be a bit wanting when it comes to darker areas.. but switching to 10bit just for that isn’t a good idea to be honest..
purely coz 10 bit encoding is time consuming, slow and much bloated ..
Have decided to do 10 bit ones just for some good BLURAY versions.. the Christmas Chronicles duology would be an exception as I wanted to do the reds in deeper crisp hue..
@tam , i ll be posting a beefed up 8bit version of this, you may compare
here you go..
Some changes have been made lets see if this particular 8bit version satisfies your darker needs 😉

if you and others feel this is good for the darker ares then I might bin idea of 10bit completely.

As long as it doesn’t become pixelated in large screen over 55 inch, which they are not.
no the 8bits rips now have a different encoding settings which will improve the darker areas..
check any rips since last few days
To be honest I would have done these chnages 2 years back itself , but as i watch either the sources or at cinemas hence never noticed the banding ..

well, the 10 bit seem to be having better color depth, no change otherwise .
just check the two files if the difference is perceptible enough , otherwise no point in wasting resources over them (which are already at a all time low atm)

Also, if I wanted 10 bit encodes, there are numerous places to get those from.
At the end of the day, it’s your decision but all I see useless waste of bandwidth and resources.
kinna strong in your opinions, you are, As you seem to be extremely well informed .. even the internet all over is flooded with 8bit ones as well :D..
anyways 10bit is experimental only, if i am ever happy with resource consumption vs size, i ll definitely move there, but I am not seeing that happening anytime soon.
As I said earlier, 10bits arent going to be a norm here , unless the community wants..
95 percent of the rips would always be 8bit..
