I use normal speaker.
For me, 5.1 audio movie had something special that the actor/actress voice can set to mute while the background music still can be hear. if set to normal, the all voice/music work just fine.
yeah it happens, you cant select surround or 5.1 option with standard stereo 2 ch speakers.
get a 5.1 speaker system , they are pretty cheap now , you ll love the surround effect provided you place them as advised in your room
With VLC (or similar) played on computer with stereo speakers, the player converts the 5.1 to stereo. Depending on how well it does it, the quality of the outcome may be different. That is why it is better to get a 2ch stereo if you are going to play it on a stereo device and 5.1 if you are going t playing on a 6 speaker home cinema.
i dont know. i hv downloaded LOTR 5.1 audio, play the movie use VLC, the actor/actress voice can mute while the background music still can be hear
try and use pot player
may be install some better codecs like klite on your PC

no why would it do that
5.1 means if you have surround speakers then you ll get the surround sound in the movie
If you dont have surround speakers then both the versions are same for you .
What different BRrip Retail & IMAX BRrip ?
retail is the final scene release ripped from a Bluray disc meant for retail sale.
IMAX version is the 3D imax version
